Senior FP&A Analyst
Upland Capital Group, Inc. is an AM Best rated “A-” VIII specialty property/casualty insurer headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Through its wholly owned insurance carrier, Upland Specialty Insurance Company, the company markets, underwrites and services specialty insurance products in select markets to include excess transportation, construction casualty, excess casualty, primary general liability, excess public entity, professional liability errors and omissions as well as excess cyber liability.

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking a Sr. FP&A Analyst to join our FP&A team; candidates must be able to work Eastern or Central Standard Time Hours for this remote role.
Primary Function:
The Senior Financial Analyst will coordinate and participate in the design, testing, implementation, and review of complex manual and automated financial modeling, financial reporting, and financial planning systems and processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assigns and evaluates the work of financial analysts, and program staff regarding development or modification of financial reporting and financial planning systems
- May assist with performance evaluations of accounting and systems analysts and programming staff
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive comprehensive, financial planning and forecasting such as revenue, headcount and expense forecasting and reporting
- Develop, deploy, and oversee scalable financial models and operational processes, including long term financial modeling, annual operating plans, and quarterly rolling forecasts
- Build critical Executive and Board of Directors materials on business performance and strategic business decisions
- Develop an analytical framework to guide leadership decisions, capital allocation strategies and measuring the success of initiatives
- Analyze key performance indicators across supporting key business stakeholders
- Reviews complex financial planning work processes, systems, and procedures for efficient workflow and conformity with accounting principles
- Communicate and present results across various levels of management
- Increase forecast accuracy by developing and improving financial models and forecast processes
- Gathers and compiles information on processes, organizational structure, computer technology, policies, and procedures
- Analyzes system design alternatives and identifies potential improvements to existing systems and processes
- Collaborates with appropriate staff to gather input and feedback concerning system needs
- Resolves issues and problems related to system platforms
- Maintains or assists with maintenance of financial planning & accounting information systems
- Manages and/or facilitates the procurement, development, and implementation of qualified systems
- Prepares and delivers comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to executive leadership, committees, and other stakeholders
- Prepares or oversees preparation of specifications and technical documentation such as user manuals for new and revised computerized financial planning & accounting systems
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:
- 5+ years’ experience in financial planning and analysis
- Advanced Excel spreadsheet and financial modeling skills
- Insurance experience in Excess & Surplus lines or Property & Casualty lines a plus
- Experience with NetSuite General Ledger, NetSuite Planning & Budgeting or Hyperion Financial management a plus
- Ability to forecast trends, expenses and financial impacts based on multiple scenarios
- Ability to create and maintain professional working relationships, comfortable interacting with all levels of the org chart
- Self-starter with ability to assess priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Disclosures:
Pay Estimate: $90,000/year-$105,000/year
Other compensation: annual incentive program
