Project Manager - Risk, Analytics and Data

Through its wholly owned insurance carrier, Upland Specialty Insurance Company, the company markets, underwrites and services specialty insurance products in select markets to include excess transportation, construction casualty, excess casualty, primary general liability, excess public entity, professional liability errors and omissions as well as excess cyber liability.

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Risk, Analytics & Data team.

Primary Function: 

Upland Capital Group is hiring a Project Manager to enhance the efficiency and scalability of our Data team. This individual contributor role is ideal for someone who excels in project management, driving execution, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will independently lead projects while also supporting developer-driven initiatives with coordination and communication. You'll own the team's internal delivery rhythm, manage project artifacts and documentation, and drive continuous improvements in how we plan and deliver work.

  • Manage project documentation, tracking systems, and stakeholder communication

The ideal candidate is an organized project manager with proven delivery experience who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments. Your experience includes managing projects across multiple business functions and stakeholder groups, as well as supporting technical teams in delivery execution.

  • Document business requirements and process flows in support of project and team initiatives
  • Manage communication and change during rollouts, migrations, and process changes
  • Drive continuous improvements in how the team plans, prioritizes, and delivers work
  • Support Internal Controls and compliance processes including documentation, audit support, and control tracking
  • Other duties assigned

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional projects and workstreams end-to-end including scoping, planning, and driving execution across engineering, analytics, and business teams  
  • Provide project management support for developer-driven initiatives, serving as the coordination and communication bridge between technical teams and stakeholders  
  • Maintain the team's internal delivery rhythm including team ceremonies, processes, and ways of working to ensure smooth delivery

Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 3+ years of experience in data operations, business operations, or project/program manager; or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • P&C insurance experience highly preferred
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to run multiple workstreams concurrently
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, structured in your thinking, and decisive in your execution
  • Excellent communicator - clear, concise, and able to tailor to technical and business audiences
  • Familiar with Agile or Kanban-based delivery models. Please note - this is not a scrum master role
  • Insurance or regulated industry experience a plus
  • Experience with SOX, data governance, or compliance-related documentation preferred but not required

Disclosures:

Pay Estimate: $85,000 - $100,000/year

Other compensation: annual incentive program
