Premium Audit Manager

As an Excess and Surplus (E&S) carrier, we face unique and interesting problems every day. We are seeking a Premium Audit Manager to join our Underwriting Operations and Technology team.
Primary Function:
The Premium Audit Manager is responsible for supporting the business operations and profitability performance goals of the premium audit department through directing the day-to-day operations of premium audit for Excess & Surplus underwriting divisions. This role will manage a small team of internal Premium Auditors and coordinate external relationships with collection teams. The Premium Audit Manager will review the Premium Audit existing processes and workflows for efficiency improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Executing the full cycle of audit processes, including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
- Identify process improvements to increase operations efficiency
- Coordinate with outside resources to support the Premium Audit lifecycle, including data collection and collections efforts
- Coordinate with the billing department for efficient and effective premium collection results
- Providing leadership, guidance, and training to Premium Audit team
- Obtaining, analyzing, and evaluating accounting documentation, reports, data, flowcharts, etc.
- Using reports to provide metrics around results, progress, and status of audits
- Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth and reliable auditing processes
- Prepare accounts for audit by identifying necessary contact and account information
- Examine the policyholder’s records, gather data to determine correct classifications for business activities and write an effective description of operations
- Prepare completed audit documents, explain results to insureds and communicate the results to the home office
- Perform additional tasks as requested by leadership
- Assist in developing, leading, and maintaining the premium audit function including helping to establish practices and procedures, controls and technology
- Assist in coordinating the preparation and workflow of all information for the premium audit function to ensure all processes and controls are handled accurately and timely
- Assist in managing audit disputes or research, respond to and revise (when appropriate) disputed audits
- Other duties as assigned
Experience, Education, Special Skills Required:
- Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting or similar field highly preferred; in lieu of degree direct experience will be considered
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing premium audits in the excess and surplus insurance industry
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial documents
- Ability to work independently with strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead a team and effectively communicate process improvements
- Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong work ethic with a proactive, results driven mindset
- Knowledge of insurance premium audit operations
- Knowledge of Excess & Surplus insurance operations
Preferred skills and experience:
- Experience using Monday.com or other project management platform
- Experience in Construction Audits
Disclosures:
Pay Estimate: $ 100,000-$120,000/year
Other compensation: annual incentive program
