Senior Reinsurance Accountant
We are looking for a Senior Reinsurance Accountant to join a specialty insurance company built on experience. This position will be responsible for a variety of complex reinsurance accounting practices to include preparation of journal entries, reconciliation, research and month-end close. As a Senior Reinsurance Reporting Accountant, the expectation is that the job will be performed with a high level of independence regarding day-to-day activities. This position will also assist in the handling of multiple tasks simultaneously, adhering to timelines and communicating clearly and effectively both oral and written.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
- Enter and reconcile Facultative certificates into Reinsurance Pro software
- Assist with all reinsurance interfaces as well as inputs for upstream and downstream interfaces into and out of Reinsurance Pro software
- Book monthly journal entries to record reinsurance activity in the general ledger
- Assist with contract and attachment group setup at treaty renewal or new treaty inception
- Interact and collaborate with other departments on a regular basis
Other Essential Duties include but not limited:
- Preparation of the reinsurance to GL reconciliations
- Preparation of monthly bordereaux reports and cash calls
- Preparation of quarterly and annual statutory statements including footnotes and supporting documents for reinsurance related activity
- Monitor letters of credit and trust accounts to assure appropriate coverage is in place
- Assist and provide documents related to financial audits and regulatory exams
- Maintain procedures for assigned tasks and update periodically as controls are implemented
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent
- Minimum 2+ years of reinsurance accounting experience – preferably with a property and casualty insurance company
- Knowledge of various forms of reinsurance, contracts, and complex calculations
- Proficiency in Sapiens Reinsurance Pro software or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of a major general ledger system
